Organized by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) and co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong, Kowloon & New Territories Motion Picture Industry Association Ltd. (MPIA), the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has further proved itself as a pivotal co-production market for Asian films after the lineup of the 61st Cannes Film Festival was announced yesterday.

Competing for the Palme d'Or with high profile films such as Clint Eastwood's Changeling and The Palermo Shooting by Wim Wenders is Filipino director Brillante Mendoza's Serbis, one of the projects selected for the 6th HAF. And screening Out-of-Competition alongside Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is another HAF alumni from the 5th edition, Kim Jee-woon's The Good, The Bad, The Weird, starring three of Korea's hottest leading men, Lee Byung-hun, Song Kang-ho, and Jung Woo-sung.

Among titles in the Un Certain Regard sidebar are Tokyo Sonata by Kurosawa Kiyoshi (5th HAF), starring Yakusho Koji, and Part Ocean, Part Flame by Liu Feng-dou (4th HAF), produced by and starring famed Hong Kong actor Simon Yam.

Having just concluded its 6th edition, HAF has increasingly become an important film financing platform for world-renowned, as well as fledgling, filmmakers in the region. For more information about HAF visit www.haf.org.hk.
